The PLOT PLAN ONLY SHOWS “PROPERTY” and “BUILDING LOCATION” DETAILS.

It DOES NOT show INSIDE the house!

The PLOT PLAN:

    • Tells the excavation crew where to dig
    • Tells the electrical crew where the electrical hook up is
    • Tells the paving crew where the driveway is
    • Tells the plumbing crew where the water and sewer hook up is
    • Tells the building inspector that the building location is within code

A plot plan is a drawing that shows the entire construction site and all structures existing and proposed. The plan must be legible and drawn to scale and the scope of the work must be clearly defined.

They are actually quite simple to draw.

Mr. Wellwood’s “Workshop” plot plan, as submitted to the Regional District (minus location and legal description)

IN REAL LIFE: Gas, Water, Sewer, and Electrical hookups are usually already there.  THIS is the drawing that the companies use to tell you WHERE NOT TO DIG, it MUST be accurate.

HOWEVER,

IN OUR CASE: we have no idea where the connections are, so just put them where you want. Try to avoid going UNDER the driveway – they have to be buried DEEPER if you do. Plan the Electrical overhead such that a delivery crane can bring in your hot tub without hitting the power lines.

The GREEN CIRCLE in the “Properties File” is the power pole outside your home. Connect to THAT.

Personally, I don’t like power poles, they are unsightly. I prefer Electrical run underground.
