I de-arced and Frankensteined the leaf springs from The Hideous Hardbody, combining the 2WD main leaf, with 4WD everything else. It still needs some tweaking, but I ~think~ I like the results.

I had to give my head a shake on what I was doing with the chassis. Offset the drivetrain 1″? What was I thinking? I cut out the entire transmission tunnel and seat back bulkhead, centered it, and got it mostly all back together this evening. Stupid me – I’ll just get the driver’s axle shortened 2″ and all will be well.
At least now, the seats will fit, like, humans.

I’ve been working on the transmission tunnel for the Lotus 7 clone (based initially on Pat Prince drawings circa 1981).
I’m using a 240SX transmission that I will be adapting to a Ford Duratec 2.0L.
This isn’t your typical tubing layout. It makes sense in my head, and it’s coming together alright….

The Hideous Hardbody gets Intermittent Wipers. Not an option, as far as I can tell on my ’94 4cyl, but we gots it now.

Basically fixing all my mistakes in The Lethal Locost by starting over. While 99% of the population wouldn’t know a Lotus Seven when they see one (much less a fake), 99% of the “Locost” chassis bothers me.

In an effort to prevent the driveshaft from bottoming out in the transmission on the Hideous Hardbody, I shortened the driveshaft about an inch. While the difference in driving is subtle, it is a noticeable improvement!

I’m still chugging away on my Pro/Engineer drawing of a Lotus 7 S2 chassis. I’m incorporating some Caterham as well as some DSK enhancements, as well as some things my wee brain thinks would be good.
It’s not finished yet, but it’s coming.
The real chassis is also progressing slowly in the garage. I hope to be mounting the roll bar and the cockpit sides. I can’t finalize the transmission tunnel until I finalize the transmission. *sigh* Nothing money can’t fix.
This is part way through the fabrication of a new chassis for the Locost. More to come.
