I teach three levels of Metalwork. The first year a student takes with me, regardless of whether
they are in grade 9 or grade 12, they take my Level 1 course. This introduces students to the
majority of tools and processes of working with metal. Some projects allow creativity, whereas
others require strict adherance to the plans and proceedures in order to ensure success.
Each subsequent level has more challenging projects requiring students to fine-tune their developing skills, and more challenging elements of design and problem-solving.
Level 3 provides the greatest amount of design freedom, and the greatest amount of critical-thinking and problem-solving. By Level 3 I should not have to teach you how to use the tools - I should be teaching you how to design and fabricate using the lightest, strongest, fastest methods possible.
