As the Stomach Churns...

I did not update my website last month yet again! I should be shot. Does anyone read this stuff?

School is still more busy than I want it to be. I've been working to organize the Auto shop to my liking, as well as get the Electronics off the ground. Both of these are coming along nicely, although I imagine it will be a good two years before the whole thing is "turn key." Took me 4 years to learn it all and organize it in Burnaby. So much to do, so little time and energy.

Had out annual Tech Ed Conference in my old stomping grounds of Burnaby. Good to see some old students and colleagues again. I really enjoyed the Battle Bot display - the guy was doing the same thing I did, running tethered bots, but had a much more refined ring. It gave me some really good ideas.

Working on transfering circuit board images to copper, it seems that the glossy photo quality paper is not as good as the normal Epson High Quality Ink Jet Paper. Use that, if you can.

The Impala (see the automotive section) is coming along. So far we have shaved the door handles and locks, removed the interior, shaved the underside of the hood and trunk. We've started filling the dents, and soon hope to be painting (flat black and flames). The engine needs a cam and a timing chain, which may get put in next semester. The end of October we hacked the suspension, and now it has about 2 1/2" ground clearance. Boo-yah! And yes, I boldy inform the kiddies that everything we are doing with the car is illegal. We also reversed our own rims (cut out the centres and reweld them reversed).

Went to an auction in Grand Forks to try and pick up a sand blasting cabinet that I foolishly did not bid on in Armstrong. A $500 cabinet went for $150 in Armstrong, but I guess in Grand Forks people don't get out much, as stuff was going for retail prices. The cabinet went for $360, plus you pay 10% auction fee as well as two taxes.

I bought the same cabinet at Princess Auto for $199, a "special purchase" offer (one time deal kind of thing).

Crazy Stuff I've found on the web lately:

Monowheels - these intrigue me, I might have to make one.

V8 Monowheel - This man is insane.

Crazy Audio Sentra - Just like mine, only louder.

Mobil1 Test - Can your engine oil go 100,000 miles?

Generally - A really cool simple driving game.

The Evil Twin - If only all advertisements were this way. Check out the video!

SB Email - email from StrongBadia!

All City Auctions - Cheap way to get stuff, but not in Grand Forks.

The Sinister Sentra Project...

The Sinister Sentra Project

By late September, I had won enough Pro West Motorsports events in Vernon to take the season, so I came to the last event and just rode with other drivers, giving tips to help them get faster. I really enjoyed this! It was a blast to ride along, point out some areas to improve, and then see the drivers drop seconds off their times! Very cool!

At the final Year End Showdown, I was able to take 1st place, leading by quite a margin both days, and won the weekend, a trophy and some spending money - the only time I have ever won money in slalom racing!

I haven't gone to any more Kelowna Corvette club events. I don't enjoy them as much and I didn't rank high enough in the points to win anything no matter how hard I tried.

I have also found that I need to take a lot of time off in this. I have become very cuttingly sarcastic and malicious in my involvement with clubs and club politics, and I think the root cause is I am putting my fingers in too many pies and getting burned out. I've cut back my involvement in many areas and I seem to be getting more and more back to my old self.

Looking for a Swift GTi or a Festiva for my next project (CMOD). Anyone?
