As the Stomach Churns...

The job situation is sorted out. Kind of.

I bid on some other jobs in the district, and ended up getting a Permanent position at Mt. Boucherie Secondary School", with a leave from that position to teach Auto Mechanics and Electronics here at George Elliot Secondary School". This keeps everyone happy, as I get a Permanent job, and thus higher status on the post-and-fill language of the collective agreement, my principal is happy because he gets to keep me, and Boucherie is happy because they get to keep the guy they originally "gave" the position to (long story, union politics). Next year may present some interesting challenges in this area....

The 340 Bush Buggy Project has been born, and has been uploaded to the Crazy Projects page. Not quite finished at the time of this writing.

I have two new cars in the stable:

1978 Chevrolet Impala

1981 Honda Accord

Plans for the Impala include gutting the two ton brick to it's lightest, shaving everything, butcher the suspension into a frame-scraping, spark-showering lowrider, flat black and flames. Sorry Chris.

No idea about the Accord yet. "Death noises" hinder a lot of engine potential.

I've been spending time setting up the Mechanics shop tool room to suit my desires. Should be neat when it's done.

Also trying to plan out how the Electronics will go. Totally fresh, Electronics has never been taught in this school before. Consequently, it will need some setting up. Luckily I have already developed a good program.

Crazy Stuff I've found on the web lately:

Nissan NX Tech

DASTEK - Piggyback ECU controller

Most powerful engine in the world!

The original Beetle is finally dead

Kimini22 Project - Honda 2.2 powered, mid-engined, carbon fibre bodied Austin Mini

PopUp Cop

The Sinister Sentra Project...

The Sinister Sentra Project

June 05 I ran a Pro West Motor Sports Club slalom event in Vernon, placing 1st in FSS and ran the third fastest time.

June 08 I ran the third Kelowna Corvette Club slalom, and placed fourth in Modified. Doped up on antihistamines didn't help me that day.

June 15 I ran the "Father's Day" Pro West Motor Sports Club slalom event. I took first in F/SS, and ran the fifth fastest time. Vernon Morning Star was there, and put a picture of the Sentra in their weekly paper. Nice press for my sponsors!

I decided to return the front Suspension Techniques sway bar to OEM. I was hoping to reduce corner-exit wheelspin, as well as encourage the car to rotate a bit more. First impression: Holy trailing-throttle-oversteer, Batman!

Once I got the tire pressures and shock settings sorted out, it worked out ok. Ultimately, it should be a fast setup. It's just rather different.

Nissan Forums Discussion: B13 ST rear bar, OEM front?

June 22 I ran the fourth Kelowna Corvette Club slalom, and placed fourth in Modified. Evidence that I was still learning the new setup.

Kumho V700 Picture People complain of the harshness of the Kyb AGX struts. Honestly, I think it's over-rated. I currently run 3 (of 4) up front and 7 (of 8) out back on the street. Goes to show that some people don't quite go for the over-dampened approach to slalom. Am I better or worse for sunning this way? Who knows. I seem to be quick....

PWMC has adopted (with permission) CNAC rules. This is good, as apparantly ASN Canada will adopt the CNAC rules as the model for the Solosport end of things.

It is unlikely the Toyo RA1's will make it to the Canadian National Autoslalom Championship in Red Deer. Consequently, I broke down and ordered a brand new set of Kumho Ecsta V700 215/50R13 Competition tires from The Tire Rack. These should be the cat's meow.

Since I'm buying tires, I may pass on a Phantom Grip for this year....
