I ran across the craziest thing on eBay: Jet Engine Powered GoKart!
I copied the entire ad (with permission) and added it to the Crazy Projects section for your amusement. The builders (United Nuclear) have other crazy projects located HERE.
While I was working on the Sentra, there was this neighbourhood crow that kept pestering me.
The crow would dig through my tool box, trying to steal wrenches, sockets, nuts, bolts, and anything shiny. While I was using a ratchet, the crow started pecking at my gloves. While I was using a speed handle to undo some bolts, the crow flew onto my back. While I was lying down to bolt stuff up underneath the car, the crow started pecking at my pants (Ewwwwww).
dI got frustrated with the bird, grabbed him by the neck and then held him upside down by his
feet. I gave the bird a shake and told him to go away. He got mad and flew off with one of my
suspension nuts.
Speaking of birds, here is a psychological assessment of the characters on Seasame Street.
School is going well. The Art Metal students are gaining more and more useful skills. We've done a simple ring, a twisted wire ring, chains/bracelets and chainmail. Soon we will be doing keychains and pendants.
The Electronics students are just getting started. We covered much of the basics, and now each level is progressing through their respective materials. I will be ordering materials for Battle Bots soon.
Power Mechanics students are well into their engine labs, and they should be almost completely unassembled by now.
Automotive students are still working through the various theories, with more and more lab assignments in the shop becoming available.
Last month I installed Tokico springs and "blue"
struts on the Sentra. Oddly enough, this did not destroy the ride as much as I thought it would.
The springs lowered the car 1.875" in the front, and 0.625" in the rear. Although Tokico claimed
the kit would drop 1.25" evenly, The fender gaps are now all exactly the same, which (in my
opinion) looks pretty good. I imagine the rear did not drop as much because the polyurethane
bushings limited any flexibility.
I also installed the Suspension Techniques anti-sway bar kit. This change transformed the car. The balance and road-handling ability is incredible! The car is a total joy to drive!
With the suspension complete, it is pretty stiff. It can bottom out on harsh bumps,
and is quite bouncy over a length of bumps. The grip is still incredible. A very nice
setup!
Now all that's left is a set of Pete Paulsen's 13x7 circle track wheels and some new Toyo Proxes RA1 race tires!
If I have any money left over, and I have the prep points for a header, a Pacesetter header and 2" exhaust would nicely round out the car, but I think I won't bother with that for this coming year. Racing doesn't put food on the table!
