The Chopper Bicycle

A couple years ago I took a Self-Directed course through BCIT to build a Chopper Bicycle.  I figured this would be a cool, challenging, and inexpensive project for students in my Metalwork class.

All the student needs, is to cut up a bike, and acquire some tubing.  Blurry photo, sorry.

I designed a frame jig and a fork jig to ease fabrication.

The fork jig ensures correct geometry once it is set for rake and tire diameter.

The first bike was 10′ long, and nearly impossible to ride.

Don’t mind the old man sounds.

I spent winter coming up with a new design, and built something a bit easier to ride, and something that would actually fit in the back of my truck.
